Psychotherapy for individual and couples in a supportive, client-centered, safe yet challenging environment.

About Liz Lacy

My expertise is in the assessment and treatment of addictive disorders (sex, drugs/alcohol, spending); anxiety disorders, such as chronic worrying, obsessions/ compulsions, trauma, panic, agoraphobia, social anxiety; couples; and personality disorders (Narcissism, Borderline). These may affect your relationships, job, school or your sense of being in the world. I work primarily with adults and adolescents.

Emotional pain can be brought about because of many reasons. Sometimes something has happened in your life recently...too much stress, a new life transition, a loss, a new relationship, prolonged illness and the like. It can also be brought about by unresolved events from the past. Lastly, emotional pain can be brought about by biological reasons...sometimes it's a combination of causes. My assessment sees you as a whole person and we will look at all possiblilities so as to develop the most effective plan possible for you to achieve your life goals.

My Therapy Style

Schema Therapy for the Long-Term

I practice Schema Therapy which is very effective for longer-standing and reoccurring life patterns. Together we learn and practice the skills needed to maintain healthy routines and identify and cope with emotional situations.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for the Short-Term

I use short-term CBT-based interventions (Exposure, Cognitive Restructuring, Mindfulness, Integrative Behavioral Couples and others) with a comprehensive assessment for shorter-term treatment issues such as phobias or social anxiety.

Safe and Challenging for your Overall Growth

We will work together to establish goals, skills, and boundaries to assess progress and use difficulties as a springboard for change. Throughout this growth, we will maintain a safe environment where honesty and thoughtful self-reflection produces meaningful progression throughout your journey.

My Experience

I have worked for more than 16 years with addictions, particularly sex/love. I have done my post-masters training at the American Institute for Cognitive Therapy (specializing in CBT), NY/NJ Institute for Schema Therapy, Beck Institute, and New York City Center for Emotion Focused (EFT) Couples Therapy. I continually attend specialized training in current evidence-based practices.

I have also served on Executive and Administrative Government and Private Boards, as an Executive Clinical Director for HVCS and as clinical consultant for several executive coaches over the last 20 years.
